My art has always been an
expression of my spiritual self as I connect to the people, places and beauty
that permeate my life. Many of my pieces are minimalist in that I am
capturing a simple light reflection or the way I feel when I look into a land
mass. Color is a very large part of how I express my feelings followed closely
by texture and a high rate of contrast.
The process to create a piece
is very tactile. Many of my works are done completely using my
hands. I dance my fingers across a sky rubbing the chalk into delicate
wisps of clouds or I smear my whole hand with oil pastel to create a rock using
sweeping, patting motions. From a trance state where there is no thought,
only the motion of color moving from my fingertips, I create light and shadow
to bring out the design of the piece. Feeling completely connected in the
process the painting grabs me and pulls me into it, creating itself through the
process not from the ego mind but from the moment of pure ecstasy of being one
with the paint and the paper. While images of paintings may be sketched
out in advance, the piece is always transformed in the process and often
emerges in a completely different light from that which was originally the
catalyst for the piece. In this way, my art is very transformative.
Not only is the original idea transformed but how I approach the piece is very
open to what happens with the color and texture in the process of creating it.
I hope that my art will bring
a feeling of beauty and/or peace to you and to the space where you choose to
display it. Perhaps you’ll consider having me design a painting
working directly with you on the color and feeling you’d like to have in one of
your spaces. Creating works specifically for walls where I am able to
work with the person, see their style of decor and
type of art they resonate with enables me to design a custom work of art for
your home or office.
